Why A Website Redesign?

contractorLong-time readers of this blog will no doubt be shocked by the radical changes that have been made. The black/gray/white palette of the previous design has given way to splashes of color. The standard layout of vertically stacked posts has given way to a layout that allows easy access to all posts no matter when they were published. There is also a change in the type of material that appears on the website, specifically, the addition of non-A.D.D.-related material. Though in the past I would infrequently post a non-A.D.D.-related item, still, I felt stifled. The many interests (and dimensions) of Jeffs ADD Mind did not have an outlet. For a time I maintained multiple websites but that became quite tedious.

There is, of course, a danger in making such enormous changes. I worried about losing long-time readers. The “seriousness” of the previous design has given way to a lighter and, one might say, less serious design which may imply that the content has become lighter. On the contrary, I believe the  greater depth and scope of the website illustrates the mental noise level of an A.D.D.ers mind. And there are still many more serious posts to come: the gloomier side of A.D.D. is still with me.

I do hope that you find this new design and intellectual expansion provides a more engaging blog experience. 1 Perhaps it will inspire you to look at the other dimensions of your own life. For me, I can emphatically say that this change is liberating. I have (finally) emerged from the A.D.D.-closet into the bright sunshine.2

The following features should help you locate ADD-specific content.

  1. The Category-specific RSS feed. Anyone who is only interested in ADD-related items, for example, and isn’t interested in my cooking, can select the particular feed.
  2. The “Recent Posts” widget ONLY displays ADD-related items.
  3. The tab on the home page labeled “Latest Post” will ONLY have the latest ADD-related post.

  1. Some long-time readers have already reacted favorably to the new design and expanded scope of the site, as evidenced by the reaction to the cooking-related items.
  2. To borrow a phrase from another group that has come out of the closet:  “We’re here! We’re A.D.D.! Get Used To It!”
