Those Godless Socialists – How The Democratic Party Is Destroying Freedom By Providing Affordable Health Care

It’s over. No more democracy. Can the last one out please turn off the lights?

In an historic vote that will forever change the course of American history, the Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives passed a major health reform bill that will provide health coverage for tens of millions of Americans. These spineless, godless socialists — who voted on God’s special day, Sunday — have decimated 200 plus years of democracy. Even worse, they have destroyed any incentive people would have to put their meager savings into a health savings plan or purchase better insurance. As for the tens of millions of people who will now get health insurance, well, if God wanted them to have health insurance in the first place, God would have provided it. We’re going to see a flood of immigrants coming for free health care, in addition to the already free education, the free and open gun market, the free welfare checks, the free legal advocacy from the likes of the ACLU (thank GOODNESS we got rid of ACORN…talk about godlessness!).

We can be thankful, though, that we now know what party REALLY cares about the people and its democracy. I’m referring to the Republicans. Not A SINGLE ONE voted for this health reform bill. That shows you how much they love the people (even the uninsured!!) and how much they love our country, how much they love democracy. They rather see 40 million people remain uninsured, they rather see 50% or more of personal bankruptcies result from medical expenses (and this happens to people WITH insurance), they rather see 24,000 (or more!!) deaths per year attributable to a lack of health insurance. They rather see all of this than to institute (excuse me a moment while I cry….okay…I’m back) a national-level socialist regime.

I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for the next election. We need the Republicans to get rid of this godless piece of legislation. Hopefully they will fix the remaining problems of this country. I want to see Republicans make this country great again!! Here is my proposal for the Republican agenda of 2012 and beyond:

Republicans should:

  1. Eliminate minimum wage (this will increase employment, since labor costs will be lower)
  2. Eliminate Social Security (the word “social” should already indicate how anti-democratic this is. At the minimum, revive the earlier proposal of at least allowing people to put their social security money in a safe investment, like the stock market)
  3. Eliminate civil rights (racism is over, everyone knows it so we don’t needs this legislation anymore)
  4. Eliminate taxes on the upper 1% of the population (restore the incentive for this oppressed minority to create jobs that make America strong)
  5. Eliminate unneccesary regulations (do we need separate departments and laws to monitor the environment, food and drugs, nuclear energy and so on? Let the free market perform its magic. If people find a “canal of love” in their local playground, or they find that they don’t like the effects of thalidomide and e. coli, then allow them — as consumers — to make the choices necessary to penalize the companies. We don’t need the government to be doing this)
  6. Eliminate all gun control laws (the constitution says we have the right to bear arms!! Really!! It does!! Go read it for yourself!)

The only problem I can foresee for the next presidential election is who to vote for. Sarah Palin? Michelle Bachmann? Glenn Beck? Bert Stupak?

    Oh so timely.

I was accused of being a socialist today…it was so retro it almost turned me on a little, I love retro style! (as demonstrated by my taste in shoes). It was so…oh I don't know…Joe McCarthy! Damn! What ever happened to THAT guy? Is he still in Congress? He MUST be.

Oh, back to being called a socialist…I was called a socialist because a friend of mine was declaring the end of Democracy and the beginning of Communism, and why couldn't we just trust the free market to fix itself and blahblahblah…my response was "while I'm not so sure about this bill, I'm pretty sure Enron is a good example of private industry blowing it in the free market…". I was informed that my friend was not entertaining discussion on the topic because…it was socialist, and further more, my ideas were a threat to freedom.

I responded that the biggest threat to freedom is silence. And that my comments weren't intended to insult him but to challenge him to solution oriented thinking.

Upon further reflection I can't imagine what I was thinking. I went back and reviewed the TOS for this friendship and apparently I initially missed the fine print that states "friendship and the only acceptable definition of freedom are dependent on you agreeing with me at all times".

Sweet…so now I have a retro label to go with my vintage fashions.

I hope you're gleaning that I'm pickin' up what you're putting down.

Unfortunately nothing you will say will ever convince this person to stop and think. They already HAVE the answer: it's called the free market. Education system stinks? Let the free market handle it. Health care system stinks? Let the free market handle it. Republicans want to create a fair starting point – the free market – and to ignore outcomes. (We can argue another time whether it truly is fair.) If you start from a more or less equal playing field but have unequal outcomes, too bad. The Dems look to see if the outcome is fair. (Again…we know it's more complex than this.) What worries me the most is which one of these Republican Timothy McVeigh wannabes will act on their convictions. That's what's frightening about the whole situation. Dems may sound angry but they don't usually bring guns to a town hall meeting. Republicans, on the other hand…..Jeffhttp://jeffsaddmind.comWhat the critics are saying:\”an outrageously popular blog\” – Peter DeLaVerita\”sets new standards for intellectual depth\” – Joseph Nemo

I think you'll find this piece from the Huffington Post to be quite interesting.

"The idea that the minority party [G.O.P.] represents the "will of the people" (not some of the people, but "the people") is the seedling of a totalitarian mindset. In this mindset — democracy doesn't matter, ideas are not to be discussed, and opposing views are not to respected. What matters is that they alone have truth, they alone are metaphysically connected to the "mind of the people" can interpret their will, and because they have truth and speak for the people, others represent a threat and must be silenced and stopped." [Emphasis added]

For a group so hung up on original sin, fire and brimstone, they sure do overlook the part where some of the people are bad and will always do bad things to other people.

    Woops. That's logical. Never mind.
