The Kids Are Alright

D o ADHD medications turn children into zombies? Does it make them a different person? Does it help them in school? We already know what the experts think about the use of ADHD medications. Wouldn’t it be interesting to know what the kids think about it? That’s what this video is all about. You’ll get to hear children describe what it is like to live with ADHD and stimulant medication. Their answers are quite sophisticated.

This video is part of a project called ADHD Voices. The entire video, of which this is only a small part, can be found here.

Thank you for posting this. My son has ADHD and I’m so glad to know these videos are out there. He is 18 now, but he was on medication for about a year – long enough to learn to read. I hated that it diminished the spark in him. It dulled his personality, so even though he was much easier to deal with while ON medication, I took him off of it once he learned to read well. Recently, he decided on his own, to try medication again – this time (different med) the results have been all positive.
