As a lover of ideas, I found this examination of Google’s book search to be an eye opener. One of the commenter’s nicely summarized one of the salient points of the article. The author, he writes, has documented “how badly Google has bungled the handling of metadata. As every publisher that is preparing its lists of books to claim in the Settlement already knows,’the book search’s metadata are a train wreck: a mishmash wrapped in a muddle wrapped in a mess[.]‘”
