Making Pizza…The Video

Never Give Up, Never Surrender – Commander Peter Quincy Taggart
Some anecdotal data suggests that ADHDers may exhibit a pig-headed determination to never give up until they feel they have mastered a particular skill. Whether that is an ADHD trait or not, nonetheless, after a few months of pizza making and a minimum five pound weight [...]

Cuban Sandwich…Sort Of

I love glazed ham. It’s an easy meal to make and there are always plenty of leftovers.  This Cuban Sandwich is one way to use up the leftovers. Though I cut a corner or two when making this sandwich (didn’t use Cuban bread), nonetheless, it still tastes great.
INGREDIENTS

2 “Hoagie” Rolls
3 tbs Mayonnaise
1 tbs brown mustard
4 [...]

Health Food Focus: Hot Dogs with Swiss Cheese

To add some more nutritional value to your hot dog (which should ALREADY be smothered in mustard and sauerkraut), add a slice or two of swiss cheese on top. Then place it in a preheated oven (250 degrees F. is fine) and keep an eye on it to make sure that the cheese melts.

Gardening, Time & Memory

When I started eating home-grown vegetables (I’ve been doing it for about five years) I learned that the local supermarket was not really selling vegetables. Those objects sold in the produce section looked and felt like vegetables but they didn’t taste like vegetables, at least when compared to my home-grown ones. I also learned that [...]

Lemon Risotto With Brussels Sprouts

Brussels sprouts were never high on my list of “must have” vegetables. If I had any vegetables at all it was usually something like broccoli, lettuce (Romaine; Boston) and, perhaps some carrots for good eyesight.1 But this past Thanksgiving I had brussels sprouts for the first time and, well, I survived. So when I spotted [...]

Glazed Ham

Glazed ham…what else do you need to know?

Making Chicken Rolls

Now that I am more comfortable working with dough (see A Pletzel For Your Thoughts and Making Pizza) I decided to make these chicken rolls so I could use up some leftovers (a few of the ingredients were used to make other meals). Of course, you could always substitute something else for the chicken such [...]

Chicken Sorrentino

This is incredibly easy to make and absolutely delicious. No special skills are needed for making this dish. The quantities for the ingredients are rough figures…a little more…a little less…couldn’t hurt. At the end of the recipe I offer a few obvious substitutions that can be made for some of the ingredients. Preparation and cooking [...]

Making Pizza: Looks Lousy…Tastes Great

Some people are really good with handling dough and making it do what they want it to do. I’m not one of them. Perhaps I will get better with practice so, for now, I’m concerned less about aesthetics and more about taste.

After making a pletzel, I realized that it wasn’t difficult to get a good [...]
