In the “World According to Baughman,” Asperger’s Syndrome is another one of those nonsensical psychiatric “diseases.” For those of you who prefer to remain deluded by the psychiatric community, you may want to amuse yourself by visiting the Asperger Society website. Sent: Monday, August 18, 2003 9:22 PM Subject: Asperger’s Syndrome? Dr. Baughman, Are you familiar with a new “pervasive developmental disorder” called Asperger’s Syndrome? Apparently, if a subject does not enjoy making vacuous small talk about pop culture, has interests which differ from an (unspecified) approved list or shows in-depth interest in any topic, displays “excessive” knowledge while answering a question, is not overly concerned with what others think and is resistant to peer pressure, then the subject is considered to have a disability and in need of psychotropic drug therapy. It seems as though admirable qualities of an independent, serious minded, intelligent mature individual have now been turned, Orwellian style, into deficiencies which require drastic remediation. I have found your commentary on ADHD quite useful and was wondering what you thought of Asperger’s Syndrome. Could you comment? Sign me, A Concerned Parent ####@aol.com [Fred A. The World of Dr. Baughman – Psychiatrists are Charlatans

“Psychiatrists go to medical school like all physicians, learn how to distinguish normal/no disease from abnormal/disease. However, having gotten their MD degree, they begin their residency training in psychiatry, which is to say, they leave behind the science and practice of medicine–that having to do with real diseases. But they don’t tell there patients, rather they use all of their medical science, to contrive the illusion and fraud that the emotional and behavioral problems the concoct for their DSM are real diseases/abnormalities/chemical imbalances. What is essential for the public to understand is that such illusions of diseases are total, 100% illusions–frauds. So long as we continue to think their is so much as a quark of reality/legitimacy to them their faux epidemics and the automatic drugging (a real epidemic of poisoning) continue.” [emphasis added]

In an interview conducted by PBS’s “Frontline,” Dr. Baughman asserts:

“They [psychiatrists] know the illusions of disease and biology that their pseudoscientific biologic research weaves… . They are intentionally deceiving the public. ”

Further, we find in the same interview (which should probably have been titled “In the Wack-A-Doodle World of Dr. Baughman”) an assertion that I think most people in the medical field would find astounding.

PBS Interview Asks: Why did it happen that there are all these kids on drugs?

Dr. Wack-A-Doodle Replies: “… Physicians have half the number of new patients that they had in 1965. To make ends meet financially, they have to invent things to do. Psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry have become financial economic partners. And frankly, part of their economic compensation has been to develop a strategy whereby they claimed, without science, that all mental illnesses, all things behavioral and emotional, are physical brain dysfunctions or abnormalities.” [Emphasis added]

The World of Dr. Baughman – It’s a Matter of Self-Control

In the “World According to Baughman,” psychiatric problems do not exist. Our sissified lifestyle, where we mollycoddle children (and increasingly adults) is the cause of all of these “psychiatric problems.” The real problem is a lack of self-control. So gird your loins, stand up straight and tall, stop whining and start showing self-control.

The following comes from Dr. Baughman’s website:

Baughman Jr., MD: D and L, if you agree with "most" but not all of what I say: that there is no such thing as a mental, psychiatric disease/physical abnormality/chemical imbalance, you do not yet understand that such "disease" claims are a total,100% fraud. It is up to the adults in their lives--parents, teachers, mostly, to teach them self control, and up to the individual, increasingly through childhood and adolescence, to learn self-control on his own. I agree with most of what you say regarding mental illness,
especially ADHD, but then how do you initially “treat” and continue to
treat a child or an adult who displays distactible and accelerated
behavior?

The World of Dr. Baughman – It’s All A Conspiracy

In the “World According to Baughman,” we have all been duped. Seems all of those psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia or PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) don’t really exist. That being the case, why doesn’t anyone speak up about it? Simple: they have been bought off by the pharmaceutical companies.

The following comes from Dr. Baughman’s website:

Dr. Baughman,

I don’t dismiss your claims, a priori, that ADHD is not really a disease.
However, why is it that there is virtually no public debate on the topic?
Do the pharmaceutical companies really exert such an overwhelming influence?

Time and Newsweek both look like brochures from pharma, how can they ever write the science. They cannot and they do not. But keep your eyes on Support Coalition International hunger strikers in Pasadena, who are now forcing the American Psychiatric Association to answer the question: "Are schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD ADHD and other psychiatric conditions actual brain diseases, yes or no? and cite, reference specific articles in the scientific literature."
